Participatory Filmmaking Process
The fictional narrative in Criatura was developed collaboratively with the participation of Year 7 English as an Additional Language (EAL) students from St. Gabriel's College, London. Over the course of 3 months, Nitya got to know the students through after-school filmmaking workshops, which consisted of improvisation games, comic strip creation, and intimate circle discussions. One student's voice and personal story was used as the basis for Criatura, and audio from her interviews and from the group workshops are layered over the fictional story.
